Zac Baker

“Zac Baker is an Albemarle native that currently resides in Wilmington, NC. Two years ago, he graduated high school from Gray Stone Day School as class of ‘24, and is currently a senior at the University of North Carolina Wilmington majoring in Marine Biology. Zac is no stranger to the stage as he has performed at the Agri-Civic Center numerous times throughout his youth growing up in Stanly County. Previous stage credits include various theater productions with the Uwharrie Players such as: Lucas Beineke in The Addams Family (2024), Daryl Ames in Bright Star (2023), and Willie Oleson in Little House on the Prairie (2022). The last of which was the production where he met his dance partner, Kate White, who played the lead, Laura Ingalls. Zac’s parents are Blair Johnson and Bob Baker. Zac is so happy to be following in his mother’s footsteps as she has both choreographed and danced in many Stanly County Dancing with the Stars entries in years past. Long-term Stanly County DWTS fans may recall his performances in the 4th annual show in 2015, when he was 9 years old and dressed as a dancing banana across multiple routines in the whole show. Despite the 11 year gap between then and now, Zac is ready and so excited to be back to perform in order to raise money for the Butterfly House. He hopes you enjoy the performances tonight and wants to remind you to continue to support the arts in Stanly County, because they are important!”

Cindy Brewer Purser

Cindy Brewer Purser, an Albemarle native and owner of Albemarle Pilates & Yoga, is making her way back to the Dancing With the Stars stage this year. After a decade-long hiatus from performing, she thought her stage dancing days were behind her. However, the opportunity to support the cause again alongside her fellow alumni was too meaningful to pass up. especially when she learned she could be sharing the floor with her husband, Kelly.

Cindy's relationship with Stanly County Dancing With the Stars dates back to its very first year. While she initially danced and fundraised for five consecutive seasons, she has remained involved ever since, finding great joy in choreographing for others. To this day, working on this event is a highlight of her year, as she is deeply moved by the incredible work the Butterfly House does in the community. She is honored to support their mission once more.

With a BCA in Dance from UNC-Charlotte, Cindy spent years as a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Through her studio, which is located in downtown Albemarle, she continues to offer a variety of classes, including Yoga, Mat and Reformer Pilates, Aerial Yoga, and Barre, sharing the beauty of movement with others.

Kelly Purser

Kelly Purser, a Stanly County native, is stepping out of the wings and onto the stage for the very first time. While this is his first time officially in Dancing With the Stars, Kelly has been a steadfast supporter of the event since meeting his wife, Cindy, in 2015. Over the years, he has patiently helped her run choreography in their living room, even taking ballroom dance lessons with her and discovering a genuine love for dance along the way.

As the Service Manager for David Odom's Friendly Chevrolet in Albemarle, Kelly has dedicated his entire career to the automotive and service industry. After spending years working within much larger automotive groups, he is genuinely happy to have found his true professional home right here locally. At Friendly Chevrolet, he finds satisfaction in helping his neighbors and serving his community, which is a commitment he is proud to represent with their dedicated team.

While he is certainly a first-time performer, Kelly is deeply honored to support the Butterfly House and is looking forward to sharing this experience alongside Cindy.

Rebecca Lacik

A native of Stanly County, Rebecca was fortunate to grow up in Albemarle and raise her children in the same close-knit community. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a bachelor's degree in nursing and with stamina and ambition earned her master's degree in nurse-midwifery from East Carolina University. When practicing in Stanly County, for 5 years she provided medical exams for children of the Butterfly House and is the only Certified Nurse-Midwife rostered by UNC Chapel Hill's CAC Medical Examiner program. For the last 10 years, she has devoted her time and skills to working for Catawba Valley Medical Center. Practicing with a team of passionate midwives and dedicated obstetricians, she serves women and their unborn babies by providing them high-risk maternal care combined with the love and tenderness found in the profession of nurse-midwifery.

Rebecca enjoys her career but considers her family her greatest achievement. She is abundantly blessed to be married to her best friend Tom Lacik; a man who cherishes being with friends and family and fund-raising for various charitable organizations as much as Rebecca does. Together they have a blended family of eight motivated, adult children and when not traveling to visit with them, they rejuvenate their spirits by enjoying the simple pleasures of life: being outdoors, evening meals by the fire and cooking for others. This summer, they will be traveling to make memories with their much-loved children along with eagerly preparing to welcome their first grandson and another precious daughter-in-law into the family.

Rebecca is honored to help one of the most impactful organizations in Stanly County, The Butterfly House. To be able to raise money for a group that tirelessly works to stop and repair the damage inflicted upon innocent, abused children has a ripple effect that will positively impact our community for generations to come.
