The Butterfly House

This wonderful event began in 2012 to raise awareness and much needed funds to benefit The Butterfly Children's Advocacy Center, located here in Stanly County.  To date, Stanly County Dancing With The Stars has raised over $1.4 million to further the mission of The Butterfly House and assist their efforts.

As an accredited child advocacy center, The Butterfly House offers the following support services:

• Coordination of investigation and intervention services.  Works closely with law enforcement officers, prosecutors, child protective social workers, and mental health and medical professionals to determine the best possible care and support for every child served.
• Advocacy support. Child advocates offer children and caregivers assistance with a wide range of issues, including coordinating therapy appointments, explaining what to expect as the case proceeds, answering questions and being a shoulder to lean on throughout the process.
• Specialized forensic interviews. Set in a warm, child-friendly environment, interviews are conducted with great care, allowing children to draw or play with toys as they share their thoughts and are gently asked fact-finding questions. The team watches the recorded proceedings via a closed-circuit television to prevent children from having to repeat disturbing details in multiple interviews.
• Medical exams. A certified medical examiner performs a head-to-toe physical exam, collects any evidence and treats the child as needed (sometimes making additional medical recommendations).
